We’re pleased to announce that Andrew Stennett has been voted in as Generalist Trustee for Approved Centres. We'd like to thank Patricia Lawrence for her interest in the position.
Andrew’s been a member of the BHS for nearly 40 years and set up his own award-winning BHS Approved Riding Centre, Grove House Stables, over 35 years ago. He’s a qualified coach with a particular interest in equine intervention and alternative education. Being dyslexic, Andrew recognises the power of horses in personal development, having experienced it first hand as a rider, student, apprentice and centre proprietor. As a Changing Lives through Horses new centre trainer, Andrew is experienced in working with centres to increase opportunities for their horses, humans and organisations. Andrew’s passionate about increasing access to engagement with horses and how BHS Approved Centres can overcome some of the barriers and challenges that face riding centres.
Congratulations to the following Trustees who were elected unopposed:
- Specialist Trustee for Access − Nicola Greenwood
- Specialist Trustee for Education − Sarah Spencer-Williams
- Specialist Trustee for Marketing, Communications, and Fundraising − Sue Griffin
Trustee co-option:
There'll be a new co-opted Trustee, Lucy Grieve, who's taking over from Tim Morris as Specialist Trustee for Welfare. We'd like to take the opportunity welcome Lucy and say thank you to Tim for the last six years, who's been in the role since 2019.
Lucy Grieve qualified as a vet from Cambridge in 2007 and practiced in Newmarket for fifteen years, working with racehorses, sports and pleasure horses. During her time serving on the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) Council, she was elected as President 2020-2021. On completing her term, she entered a permanent role with BEVA as Veterinary Projects Officer, and has recently started studying for an MBA.
Thank you to everyone who voted in the elections or nominated someone. Your participation helps make sure our Board truly represents our membership.
Thank you
We’d also like to thank Tim Lord and Sarah Simpson who are stepping down from their roles as Trustees. Both have been on our Board for several years with Sarah serving as Specialist Trustee – Education and Tim serving as Generalist Trustee. We’d like to especially thank Tim for the time he spent as Chair of our Board until September 2022. The help and support of all our Trustees has allowed us to become the charity we are today.
